Taking Plurk Layouts to a new Level

Taking Plurk Layouts to a new Level

Our most recent project is a design website which is linked to a new social network, Plurk. We put Plurk Layouts together in August 2008, as soon as Plurk released the ability to change profile CSS.

When Plurk released the ability, we quickly bought the domain and put together some form of website layout – which we later changed and refined.

The three of us began working hard, trying to get all sorts of different designs available for everyone’s tastes – 9 months later we have over 300 plurk layouts and we are continuing to release a brand new layout every single day.

At one point there were 3 active Plurk layouts/designs related websites. Plurk Themes, Plurk Templates and of course, us.

Because we had competition we had to work out how to get ahead of the game and we decided the only way to do this would be to design and code like crazy, which would enable us to have a brand new layout released on Plurk Layouts every day.

By releasing a new layout every day we would have the upper hand, not only by having Plurk Layouts active and increasing our range of layout styles, but both of the other Plurk design websites were only active once a week or so…

The idea was, eventually Plurk users would simply know of Plurk Layouts, because we would have the most layouts, and be the most active… because, who goes to a website which isn’t active?!

Not many… unless there is a ton of information and it therefore no longer needs updating.

So, my reason for posting this blog is to suggest you ask yourself these questions:-

How can I get ahead of my competition?

What’s going to make me stand out?

How can I offer more?
